On with surprises number 2. If you want the whole story go back to here. So I’m sitting on the back pouch with Ann enjoy the sun and her company... okay we were bitching about our husbands. My cell phone goes off. I was expecting this as Dr. McDavids nurse was going to call me about the class.
Ah I hear Brooklyn. “Tommy!” I exclaim joyfully.
“Annie, what kind of after shave do you like or what kind does your husband use?” I tell him what I like: Pie (the math symbol, don’t have it on my computer) But that’s all I know cause my hubby doesn’t ware any due to my CFIDS. Perfume ect... now makes me feel very ill. Well we have this banter back and forth, the three of us and come up with something. “I shaved my beard off Annie” he says and I can tell he is nervous about it.
We go on talking about things his meds, his doctor dying, what’s going on with me. and then we say good-by. I laugh as he really did call me all the way from New York to ask me about after shave! You are so funny Tommy!
Tommy and I have know each other for all most 2 years now. He has HepC, I worry about him. Interferon made him so sick and then it stopped working for the 5th time. He can’t take it anymore it was so painful for him. We went though it together and in return a year ago December 04 Tommy saved my life. We are both recovering Alcoholics.
It was hard to tell how he looked with the beard, but I could tell he had finally put on some weight and his skin was no longer yellow; and finally the light came back to his eyes after the interferon tried to destroy him.
Tommy got home and sent me a before and then an after photo. It blew my mind! Their was my friend looking healthy and beautiful and my hand reached out and touched his face on the screen and all I could get out of my mouth was WOW! Okay yummy came out too, but mostly I felt warm and happy that he looked so good, but it really was going to take some getting use too as I have never seen him with out the beard except in photos when he was younger..... WOW!
